Half of Older Patients with Dementia Remain on Psychotropic Drugs a Year After Starting on Them

Initial prescriptions for medications affecting cognition, such as antipsychotics, are disproportionately likelier to come from acute and post-acute settings than from doctors' offices--and continue to be prescribed a year later for people with dementia, who are particularly susceptible to ill effects from these medications.
