UVA Researchers Warn Unvalidated AI Tools Could Undermine Athlete Health, Military Readiness

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are rapidly being adopted across sports medicine, human performance programs and military training environments, often with promises of improving injury prevention, fitness assessment and operational readiness. But a new paper from researchers at the University of Virginia argues that many of these systems have not demonstrated the real-world effectiveness needed to justify their use, and are instead posing new risks from false results and other technical deficiencies in models hastily rushed to market and implementation, often by government agencies.
