Dr. Monti is a Professor of Medical Sciences and Director of the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. A recognized leader in understanding the biobehavioral mechanisms that underlie addictive behavior as well as its prevention and treatment, Dr. Monti has published approximately 200 papers, monographs, and chapters. These are primarily focused in the areas of assessment, mechanisms, early intervention, and treatment. In 2002 Dr. Monti was presented with the Musiker-Merenda Award by the Rhode Island Psychological Association for his "outstanding contributions to mental health and psychology." He was the recipient of the Association of Medical School Psychologists Distinguished Researcher Award in 2003 and of the Research Society on Alcoholism's Distinguished Researcher Award in 2006. He is past President of the Research Society on Alcoholism.
