Total hysterectomy

Total hysterectomy and total hysterectomy with removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes

A hysterectomy is surgery to take out a woman's uterus. In a total (complete) hysterectomy, the uterus and cervix are removed. In some cases, the ovaries and fallopian tubes are also removed during a hysterectomy. This is called a salpingo-oophorectomy.
